How du I use a Monitor instead of a TV?

Postby PhoeniX » Sat Jun 12, 2004 6:47 pm

I tried to use freepia on my Via M1000, but I can't get it to work with a Monitor connected.
I want to use this on my Beamer, wich uses 1024x768 as resolution.

Where are the config-files located?
Changes in /etc/X11/XF86config takes no effect... :-(

Thanks for any hints!

Hi,

I am quite new to linux but I've managed to install freepia on my hdd, running on epia-ml board (yes ml) which does not have tv-out, and I've got a blank screen. Freepia is running as there is audio when I pop in a dvd disk, and there is login prompt if I press crtl-alt-f2.

I can edit /etc/init.d/rc.x11 but just don't know what to edit. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi PhoeniX, did you work out this issue?

I'm having the same problem with my old-but-still-effective Philips Brilliance 105 which I use everyday at 1024x768.

Poking around with /etc/init.d/rc.x11 and /var/log/X*86*.log, I noticed that, whatever I do, X warns me out that vga(0) driver forces monitor hsync and vsync to their standard values (i.e. 28-33 and 55-70).

I've never tried TV out.

i dont know which driver is needed for your grafic boards. but freepia does not include other driver than the via one. if you find out which driver is needed, i can upload it for you...

@LoLo
with the 0.38 Beta1 it works!
I've just edited the /etc/sysconfig for 1024x768.

But the Aspect/Ratio is wrong and I have no sound....

@the2nd
I use the via-onboard-graphics!

is the aspect ratio wrong on the Freevo screen or just movies?

Movie aspect ratios are controled from the mplayer command line args in the init script

Freevo aspect ratio is controlled by line args on the Via graphics driver

So, this actually worked out?
I'm having problem with yours as well, and I'm wondering if 4:3 setting actually solved it.

HS-CM146 use my computer monitor for problems. If that judge is right for the voice of experience points. HS-CM146 is not a TV (no RF input), but with composite video (V), and S (YC) interface to the professional video monitors, so that it is not directly connected to the computer's RGB output graphics card, after I have In the video conference system using RGB switch to V converter to the computer's video input signal into the TV and closed circuit television system to the participants by expanding the scope of closed-circuit television, the effect is very reluctantly, but fairly can be used. These products are also currently on the market, but is much more than a decade ago.
TV interfaces are more abundant, it is recommended check interfaces circumstances, further judgments.
